We provide end-to-end comprehensive services including: LTO, logging, tree removal, stump grinding, hauling, standard and custom milling, lumber grading, drying, planing/mounding, finished millwork and finishing.

We mainly have redwood including old growth, Douglas fir, tan oak and walnut. We can also provide bay laurel, big leaf maple, Monterey pine, Ponderosa pine, Monterey cypress, Pacific madrone, coastal live oak, blue gum (red gum in rare cases) and eucalyptus. Ask us about any wood species you are interested in and we can mostly likely supply it.

Yes. We'll need a 8' by 20' clear and semi flat space to mill. For 36" diameter and under we would use a Wood-Mizer wood mill. Above 36", we'll use a Lucas swing blade or slabber attachment for your job. Let's discuss your project. Give us a call at +1 (831) 818-2260.

We have hundreds of redwood slabs, 1x6, 2x6, 4x4, 6x6, 8x8 and up to 24”x24” dimensional lumber in stock. Also, we stock walnut table slabs, fir table slabs and Monterey cypress table slabs, with several 55”x14’ long slabs.

Yes, we have many salvaged and reclaimed logs and lumber. We can resaw these logs and dimensional beams, upcycling them for their next home.

1. We source our local wood from wind fallen, dead, dying or diseased trees and responsible foresting from a single tree to a sustainable timber harvest plan up to 100,000 board feet or more. We can salvage your trees into a finished wood product to give your trees a second upcycled life! 2. Our wood kiln SOL-ELY uses solar power to circulate and run the pumps to dry wood :). We are currently partnered with Dr. Daniel Sanchez at UC Berkeley Department of Environmental Science to build a 100% solar kiln (heat, air circulation and venting). 3. By bringing the mill to the logs through portable milling, it saves on hauling costs and carbon emissions that large trucks produce. 4. We are in the process of getting our lumber LEED certified and FSC certified. 5. In several cases, the entire log is used. We are working on using the entire part of the log as in the past, such as slash, tailings, bark, wood chips and sawdust/wood flour. You might be surprised to learn that wood flour can actually be used for 3D printing projects! We’re excited to partner with Professor Virginia San Fratello at San Jose State University on this initiative. More to come so stay tuned!

Thus, Tanoak can yield the conventional straight grain typical of other oaks, or a more patterned image that is as attractive as those found in exotic woods common to Asia, Africa, and South America.

Tanoak is a hard and resistant to abrasion, making it an excellent wood for flooring. It is also a great choice for decorative veneer and high-quality furniture. Tanoak plank flooring is 3" or 5" tongue and groove, so it can be installed using glue and/or nails. Every single piece of the Tanoak is hand-selected, hand-sawn, hand-milled, hand-stacked, and hand-checked.

There are many factors in determining the cost of milling: how much room is there? moving equipment? The dimensions of the lumber or lumber list helps with this and a site visit is necessary to complete an estimate. We are a Woodmizer centric shop/sawmill. We have an LT70, LT40 with a 20’ extension allowing us to mill up to 40’ long, LX250 wide slabs up to 55” wide by 18’ long, EG200 twin blade board edger and a MP260 4 sided Planer/Moulder. We also have 2 Lucas mills total length 40’ and the OG Mobile Dimension powered by a 1776cc dual port Volkswagen engine.

Our solar wood kiln is powered by twelve 450-watt 48-volt solar panels. We have lithium ion phosphate batteries to keep the fans running through the night. The largest slab that we can kiln dry is 24 feet x 6 feet and the total capacity of the wood kiln is 5000 board feet. We also sell both air and kiln dried lumber.

Yes, we can certify our structural beams for redwood or other local California woods.

On average it takes 1 year per inch of thickness to air dry. Our kiln can shorten this time after the wood cures to about 20%. Then it's ready for the kiln to be dried to 8-12%. Hardwoods such as oak, walnut and maple take 3-4 months to air dry whereas softwoods such as redwood and fir take 3-4 weeks. Then, about 30 days in the kiln will do the rest.

Yes! We have several hundred slabs to choose from in redwood, fir, pine, claro walnut, cedar, tanoak and many more. Most of them are already seasoned and ready for the kiln.

The best and most common choice for wood decking is redwood and cedar due to it's natural rot and insect resistance.
